My Child

I come as a lowly servant bowing low
Asking for a piece of bread
And even now I tremble in fear
But I’m driven by an unstoppable hunger
Hungry for something from the masters table
For something more, more than this emptiness
I fall at His feet, afraid to look up as I ask

As I tremble, waiting for His answer,
hoping but fearing rejection.
I feel a hand lift my chin
As I look up I see the face of The King
It’s then I realize that He is on His knees
Fear again causes me to look away
For, this is The King of Kings.

With tears in His eyes and a smile
He takes my hands
And lifts me up
Causing my spirit to be at peace
He tells me
“I’ve been waiting for you,
Come, enter in to my rest, my child”

He dresses me in royal clothing as His child,
As an ere,
The King taking my hand, like a father to his child,
And says, “come, sit at My table”
But my heart is heavy, as tears flow down, I cry
“But Lord, I’m a lowly servant, I’m so unworthy
How is it that you call me your child and your heir?
He laughs, “Oh my child, you are the Spotless Bride of My beloved Son.
Come, eat.”
And there was a feast before me.

This is something God showed to me a while back during a worship service. It’s also based on:

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened to you.      -Matthew 7:7

And I say to you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened to you.    -Luke 11:9

Have Mercy

We want it easy
We don’t want blisters
From caring our cross
But you hung on a cross
Bruised and beaten
Beyond recognition
Every cut, every sting
To cover my sins
Yet we want to remain
In comfort
We have mocked your pain

Have mercy for
We have sinned
You gave it all
Yet we hold back
Forgive us Jesus
Forgive us
For not taking up our cross
With all the splinters
And the scorn from the world

We judge those around us
Seeing the sin they are so eager
for all the world to see
But we are no different
We in vain, try to hide them from God
We hide our sins from each other
Whether fear of judgment or pride
or fear of the shame we’d feel

Have mercy for
We have sinned
You gave it all
yet we hold back
Forgive us Jesus
Forgive us
For not taking up our cross
With all the splinters
And the scorn from the world

Have mercy on us
Forgive us
Jesus
For judging your bride
For judging the world
Both for whom you died
We your bride, repent
Please show us, Lord
How you see them
Teach us, Christ
to love as you love
Even unto death
We want to be
your hands and feet

I wrote this in response to reading a portion of No Compromise: The Life Story of Keith Green by Melody Green. The excerpt was located at the end of Chapter 11. These words were directed to the “…oldest charismatic fellowship [church] in the city [he was in at the time].”
“Christians don't like to talk about hypocrisy any more than turkeys like to talk about Thanksgiving!” This night he was driving the point home, and his preaching was even a bit abrasive. He’d come with a burden to shake the congregation into a confrontation with themselves and with God, and I knew he was about to pull out all the stops.
“You don't like it, do you?” he said. “You came to hear a concert, and you're getting cornered. The Christian walk is a bunch of squirming flesh getting nailed down to a cross. 'Hey man, I want a padded cross. You know, a Posture-Pedic Cross with nice springs in it. Something comfortable.' The gospel is a no compromise, absolute sell out for Jesus, 100% walk!"
“I hate to say this to you folks. I really love you, but…you brood of vipers and snakes! Who call yourselves Christians and halfheartedly serve Him!”

And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. "For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it. "For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself ? "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. ~Luke 9:23-26

Introduction...

Speaking has never been a problem for me. Just ask my parents-or Joe (my husband) for that matter. Now me writing.. THAT is a God thing. Without the Holy Spirit helping me, I don't believe I'd be able to articulate in writing as well as I do now. It has always been much harder to express myself in written word. And yet, I am writing poems, songs, and even stories and plays. Granted, it's still harder for me to write stories and plays, none the less, I still enjoy it.. If you would have told me seven years ago I would enjoy it as much as I do now, I'd probably think you were crazy. But God has given me the grace to love writing.

I am calling my blog: “Heart on Paper” because I write what is on my heart (inspired by life’s circumstances). While other times I write what God shares with me from HIS heart. Often what God shares comes in poetry form.

I wanted to explain a few things first.

I am amazed at David’s life and the psalms he wrote. His psalms reveal his heart, which explains my blog’s link. David wrote Psalms 34 (you can read it below) after he faked ‘madness’ before Abimelech (another king). Abimelech thought David was really crazy, so he released David. How humiliating and humbling at the same time. How many people could after that, praise God the way he did? So you may be wondering what this has to do with my blog. Well, the answer is this….
1. I want to praise God, no matter what is going on in my life!
2. In the psalm David asks others to join him in praising the Lord. I want to ask my readers to join me to praise Him!
3. Sometimes when we are down and discourage, we need to find strength in those who just went through or even still are in their own valley. When I am in a valley, I will help my readers find strength.

David didn’t just invite some to join in worship, he invited EVERYONE. He even invited those who had just gone through a hard time. He even invited those who were right in the middle of their own trials. He didn’t fail to invite those who were just starting their hard season. He didn’t say “come let ‘those who have gone through the same thing’ taste and see...” He wasn’t exclusive; he was inclusive!
So. My hope is that amidst my own short comings, God will use my writings to touch you or maybe someone you know.

Note: I also want to clarify something. There will be times that I will share parts of my writings; or something that’s not finished that I am working on. I will always site someone else if it’s not original. Also, at times I will ask a friend (or a sister) to help edit my entries before publishing them.

Psalms 34 (NASB)
The LORD, a Provider and Deliverer.
A Psalm of David when he feigned madness before Abimelech, who drove him away and he departed.

I will bless the LORD at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul will make its boast in the LORD;
The humble will hear it and rejoice.
O magnify the LORD with me,
And let us exalt His name together.

I sought the LORD, and He answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

O taste and see that the LORD is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
O fear the LORD, you His saints;
For to those who fear Him there is no want.
The young lions do lack and suffer hunger;
But they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any good thing.
Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Who is the man who desires life
And loves length of days that he may see good?
Keep your tongue from evil
And your lips from speaking deceit.
Depart from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.

The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous
And His ears are open to their cry.
The face of the LORD is against evildoers,
To cut off the memory of them from the earth.
The righteous cry, and the LORD hears
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the LORD delivers him out of them all.
He keeps all his bones,
Not one of them is broken.
Evil shall slay the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
The LORD redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.
