Introduction...

Speaking has never been a problem for me. Just ask my parents-or Joe (my husband) for that matter. Now me writing.. THAT is a God thing. Without the Holy Spirit helping me, I don't believe I'd be able to articulate in writing as well as I do now. It has always been much harder to express myself in written word. And yet, I am writing poems, songs, and even stories and plays. Granted, it's still harder for me to write stories and plays, none the less, I still enjoy it.. If you would have told me seven years ago I would enjoy it as much as I do now, I'd probably think you were crazy. But God has given me the grace to love writing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am calling my blog: “Heart on Paper” because I write what is on my heart (inspired by life’s circumstances). While other times I write what God shares with me from HIS heart. Often what God shares comes in poetry form.

I wanted to explain a few things first.

I am amazed at David’s life and the psalms he wrote. His psalms reveal his heart, which explains my blog’s link. David wrote Psalms 34 (you can read it below) after he faked ‘madness’ before Abimelech (another king). Abimelech thought David was really crazy, so he released David. How humiliating and humbling at the same time. How many people could after that, praise God the way he did? So you may be wondering what this has to do with my blog. Well, the answer is this….
1. I want to praise God, no matter what is going on in my life!
2. In the psalm David asks others to join him in praising the Lord. I want to ask my readers to join me to praise Him!
3. Sometimes when we are down and discourage, we need to find strength in those who just went through or even still are in their own valley. When I am in a valley, I will help my readers find strength.

David didn’t just invite some to join in worship, he invited EVERYONE. He even invited those who had just gone through a hard time. He even invited those who were right in the middle of their own trials. He didn’t fail to invite those who were just starting their hard season. He didn’t say “come let ‘those who have gone through the same thing’ taste and see...” He wasn’t exclusive; he was inclusive!
So. My hope is that amidst my own short comings, God will use my writings to touch you or maybe someone you know.

Note: I also want to clarify something. There will be times that I will share parts of my writings; or something that’s not finished that I am working on. I will always site someone else if it’s not original. Also, at times I will ask a friend (or a sister) to help edit my entries before publishing them.

Psalms 34 (NASB)
The LORD, a Provider and Deliverer.
A Psalm of David when he feigned madness before Abimelech, who drove him away and he departed.

I will bless the LORD at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul will make its boast in the LORD;
The humble will hear it and rejoice.
O magnify the LORD with me,
And let us exalt His name together.

I sought the LORD, and He answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

O taste and see that the LORD is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
O fear the LORD, you His saints;
For to those who fear Him there is no want.
The young lions do lack and suffer hunger;
But they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any good thing.
Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Who is the man who desires life
And loves length of days that he may see good?
Keep your tongue from evil
And your lips from speaking deceit.
Depart from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.

The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous
And His ears are open to their cry.
The face of the LORD is against evildoers,
To cut off the memory of them from the earth.
The righteous cry, and the LORD hears
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the LORD delivers him out of them all.
He keeps all his bones,
Not one of them is broken.
Evil shall slay the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
The LORD redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.
